A number of sightings of paranormal activity, including UFOs and ghosts, have been investigated by police in the Tayside region, a report has revealed.
Although officers in Dundee, Perthshire and Angus did not receive any reports of zombies, witches or vampires, several people raised the alarm with police about an "alien spacecraft".
One person also contacted Tayside Police in January 2009 claiming they were being attacked by ghosts in their Dundee house.
But officers who attended found that the person who raised the alarm was hallucinating.
The weird and wonderful cases that officers from Tayside Police have been called out for in the last three years has been revealed in their response to a Freedom of Information request.
Three of the five incidents of paranormal activity in Tayside reported between 2009 and 2011 have been given explanations by officers, while the other two remain unexplained.
Apart from the hallucinatory incident involving ghosts in Dundee, officers also explained to a witness reporting a UFO sighting in Crieff, Perthshire, in February 2010, that the orange lights in the sky were not from an unknown life-form, but that of Chinese lanterns.
The next month police received a report of another UFO in Fife, which officers investigated and found out was in fact a radio transmitter.
We thought it would be a good idea to announce that we are looking for places to investigate.
Having completed our first investigation we have a taste for paranormal investigating, but the problem is we don't have a big choice of where to investigate. We're just looking to investigate locally (Blackpool area - or even anywhere in the north west of England) but will consider further away if the location is interesting!
We aim to prove / debunk any paranormal activity that is reported. We wont simply walk in and announce a place is haunted because we felt a draught and caught an orb on camera (most haunted style). We will try and document what we can on scientific equipment, and present any evidence we get.
Although we are believers, we all also have a sceptic side to us so we wont just assume bumps in the night are paranormal. We want to bring some authenticity into UK ghost hunting and not dramatise and promote falseness in our findings - like most UK TV shows seem to do. We'll approach our investigations Like TAPS or GHI as we feel this is how true investigations should be, and real evidence should be gathered.

So finally....... we have done our first investigation!
This was in an unexpected place, which unfortunately has to remain anonymous by request. We were also asked not to use video cameras which we respected, despite this making the investigation harder to get solid evidence.
Despite this we went tools in hand and here were the results:
LOCATION – Anonymous
This was by request of the client. We were happy with this as they allowed us to complete our first investigation. Both myself (Pete) and Dave were present on the night.
REPORTS – The client had reported various paranormal activities. The focus of these were in two places. The basement and the garage that was attached to the property. The basement was a standard basement, but by all means creepy! Reports were voices and shuffling that happened regularly. On one occasion the junction box tripped in the basement and the client went down to switch it back on. He said upon turning it on he heard a chuckle, and the junction box tripped again. The client switched it back on and returned upstairs quite spooked by this as he felt he wasn't alone.

As we have our first investigation on the horizon, I thought I would brief you all on what we will be doing as our first investigation will be a moment to remember (I just wish we would be turning up wit has much style as Ecto 1).
As yet, we have not set a date for our investigation but we know the property owner is happy for us to go. I will be arranging this early next week, so the preparations begin for this investigation.

Well hopefully Parastronomy in the future! Our plan is to be investigating once we have gathered the necessary equipment as we want to be there in the front line to prove or disprove paranormal experiences. Now I know we're not qualified to be saying what equipment is best, and how to perform the best investigation, as we are beginners ourselves, but I've seen enough episodes of ghost hunters (superior to the pathetic Most Haunted - or is that most faked?) and read many a book to know my stuff - I HOPE!
So, with this in mind, I thought I would write about the basics to perform your own investigation, and what we will hopefully be using to perform our own investigations in the future.
